WHENUAPAI PONY CLUB

Rules for sitting Certificates are here. Also gives you info on how the exam is run and marked.

You all have record cards in the club rooms. These need to be completely signed off before you can sit the exam.

For the riding questions and HM (Horsemastership) sections you need to read your Pony Club Manual. For C+ and
below you should be able to find everything you need to know in Pony Club Manual 1 and 2. Manual 2 was updated in
2007 and Manual 1 is in the process of being updated. For B, H and A you need to know everything in the manuals but
also have more knowledge from other sources.

D -

D+ - Compulsory as of Jan 08. This certificate fills the large gap between D and C. Read D and C part of the PC Manual 1.

C -

C+ - Can now be split into Riding and HM so you don't have to do both parts at the same time.

B - Can be taken in two parts. Riding and HM or can be done as one.

H - Horsemastership.
A

- Riding. To get full 'A' you need to pass 'H' as well.
H and A certificates are the highest awarded at Pony Club. They provide a comprehensive examination in horse
management and horsemanship for well trained and experienced senior riding members. The minimum age for
sitting H and A is 16 years. Riders must hold the Horse management section of B to sit the H certificate, and their full B to sit the A certificate.

O - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Can start as soon as you join Pony Club.
The 'O' Certificate (O for Options) offers a range of practical, artistic and academic options. Unlike other
Pony Club Certificates there is no set examination or test, candidates select the required options and on
completing the requirements, qualify for a pass in Bronze, Silver or Gold 'O' Certificate. The 'O' Certificate
Information Booklets and Application Forms are available from the Area Co-ordinator.
Record cards are a compulsory and integral part of the 'O' Certificate building up a comprehensive and
personal record. District Commissioners must verify compliance to the five rally rule on the candidate's
application form. Certificates and badges will be sent by the NZPCA to the successful candidates upon completion of their certificate.
